This doesn’t make me want to buy this instrument! And Frankly, the “blending” is good because the instruments are pointed at the SAME TARGET. You get ‘blending’ by spreading instruments apart and showing us how they work in a system.
This guy should stay in R & D. He’s about a convincing a salesman as I am a medical doctor.
The demo is a great idea, but poorly executed. The cyc in the video is too small to demo the pattern and the two instruments are gelled the same color which would be fine if they were 5′ apart or whatever Apollo suggests for an even wash, but putting two units that close does not demonstrate how evenly they blend!
Do your homework and shoot another video if you really want to show how great these instruments are.
Peter & Robert thanks for the comments. We will redo the video to try to show the blending better, trying to shoot at different targets and give a better feel for this. Robert also caught the fact that I used the term symmetrical and I should have said asymmetrical when talking about the reflector in the unit, this too will be updated in the video.
I second some of the comments above although the tone could be better.
Although the price point is low, especially for list price, the compact cyc has a limited use in a large format performance venue where a traditional unit because of physics does a much better job for the even distribution of light.
The one nice thing I will say is that the adjustment for ground row purposes is genius and the best feature by for.
Maybe this would be a good application in a black box, TV studio or some other smaller performance space?
